Score: 8.4/10 Price: $99 Best For: Down lovers who sleep hot
Down pillows are warm, but the Brooklinen Down Pillow surprised us. The breathable cotton sateen shell and lofty Canadian white down created a pillow that stayed cooler than most down options we’ve tested. It’s not as cool as gel or PCM, but for down fans, it’s one of the best-performing options.
Last Updated: March 2026. We re-tested after 30 nights for loft retention and temperature stability.

Pros
Cons
The Brooklinen arrives in a reusable canvas bag. It expands immediately with no odor. The shell is smooth and soft, and the pillow feels airy rather than dense.
This is a traditional down feel-light and moldable-with a bit more structure than cheaper down alternatives.
The pillow uses a baffle-box construction to reduce shifting and keep the down evenly distributed. The cotton sateen shell breathes better than microfiber and doesn’t trap heat as much.
This construction helps down stay lofted without clumping, which is critical for airflow.
For down, the cooling scores were above average:
This is warmer than gel and PCM pillows, but noticeably cooler than most traditional down pillows we tested.
The Brooklinen scored 8.5/10 for alignment and 8.2/10 for pressure relief.
If you need more structured support, consider our best cooling pillows for back sleepers picks or a foam-based model.
Testers liked the airy feel and reported less heat buildup compared to standard down pillows. The main feedback was that the pillow needs regular fluffing to maintain loft.
For down lovers, the Brooklinen provides a nice balance: a traditional feel with slightly better cooling performance.
The pillow fits standard cases well. Sateen or percale cases both work; percale preserves cooling best. Because down compresses, very tight cases can reduce loft.
After 30 nights, loft retention was 91%. Down requires more maintenance than foam: you should fluff it daily and air it out weekly. The pillow is dry-clean only; pillow care and washing at home can damage the fill.
Versus Mellow CloudAlign™: Mellow CloudAlign™ cools better and offers more support. Brooklinen is softer and more traditional.
Versus Saatva Latex: Saatva provides better structure and airflow. Brooklinen is lighter and more moldable.
